Your colleague Steve Brodner taught me a well deal on his 'Joe Friday' article. I grieve for the loss of lives, which could have been predictable. Due to this useless budget cut, over an hundred, many of them children, in an advanced country.
Indeed. Mayhaps I should have written, 'in a supposedly advanced country', yet it is hard to be ironical or sarcastic when there are dead. I thank you for what your country is sadly becoming, and for improving my English skills. This also is why I comment on these Substack pages, besides learning more. Have a pretty nice day (here, 6º C and cloudy, typical winter).
A country, any country, couldn’t exist, or be created , without the people. We the people are thoroughly disgusted by the actions of Donald Trump. However, we the people, are hogtied. The people we elected to represent our will are voting and making decisions contrary to will. Whether these politicians are ignoring our wishes and needs in order to line their pockets, or they are in terror of opposing The Big Bad, the main point is that this government is not the will of the people. Although justice, based on the Constitution, is slow but it does come to pass. We can and will repair the damage that has been done. We will hold our hands out to our damaged allies. It will be slow, but the pendulum will swing. The will of the people will prevail. We will not become what we don’t want to become.
Thank you for your clear opinion. Fight on, and hopefully there shall be a favourable turnaround in your country, long before three and a half more years of a government which, as you wrote, wants to line its pockets, not to mention the famous Big Beautiful (cough cough cough) Bill I learnt about in all these articles and drawings. Be well!
Great set of toons. Collectively, they make one wonder, if Chump can do anything right? The answer is NO, except grifting. God bless the rescuers on the ground. Where is FEMA? No money? Part of Chump’s tax cut for himself and the 1% kissing his ass? Texas wouldn’t fund the initial $50k for an early warning system? Damn the Grand Old Party, that is now virtually unrecognizable!!
Yeah... not a conspiracy theorist, but not buying it. I assume the photos and lists include too many people in MAGA-world (including the orange creep).
I was thinking the same thing. They will bury, lie, and shred anything they can before anyone else knows about it. Lincoln is turning over in his grave with what has become of the GOP.
It is somewhat hard to laugh at the flooding of Texas, a gulag like Alligator Alcatraz with it seems more Red states jumping to get on the menu, and bonkers Bondi; but these sketchers with humor gave it a good shot.
It’s my understanding that on that day, the NWS WAS fully staffed.
This region of Texas, The Hill County, has a history of flooding. Yes, the Texas government felt putting warning systems in that region was too costly. It’s not a small area we are taking about. And parts very remote from civilization.
Part of this is the lack of personal responsibility on the part of the users. With a history of flooding, one needs to be aware of the weather forecast and bring a radio with them. Granted this came in the wee hours of the morning, exasperating the threat. But one can buy a NOAA radio that sends alerts of approaching weather issues.
If you were backpacking in a place like Denali NP, before you got a permit, you’d have to attend an hour long class taught by a ranger on the do’s and don’ts in the park and how to handle bear contact.
I don’t know if Texas has a similar policy in the form of a written flyer or not. But one would think they would to at least cover themselves legally.

Rosa,
I fear the more accurate term in your last sentence is rapidly becoming "...in a militarily and cruelty advanced country."
Will it even matter soon that hate, cruelty and suffering are the GOP's only reliable tools for "governing"?
Thank you, Rosa.

Rosa,
Thank you for caring, and for wanting Earth to be a better home for ALL people, creatures and plant life.
Stay warm and safe!

I am so excited. This gal will lose her law license and I can hardly wait for that to happen.

Absolutely a great collection. Definitely leaves one wondering.
