‼️“ICE Doubling Down” Edition
In the wake of a fatal ICE shooting, the Trump administration announced it will send “hundreds more” federal agents to Minneapolis, a classic show of restraint in which the answer to public outrage over a killing by law enforcement is to dramatically increase the amount of law enforcement, and therefore, increase tensions and the risk that it will happen again. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem explained the surge was necessary to keep ICE and Border Patrol agents “safe” from having to shoot innocent women in the face again.
The administration maintains the agent acted in self-defense, arguing that Renee Good “weaponized” her vehicle, a legal innovation that equates a three-point turn with flying hijacked airliners into the World Trade Center. Video footage, local officials, and common sense suggest otherwise, but Washington has made clear that one should never trust their own eyes and ears over the dictates of Dear Leader.
