I like the art of Sean Delonas'. It's a great (albeit bleak and heavily exaggerated) parody of Emanuel Leutze's piece.
The one that stands out, as Glenrose pointed out, is Nick Anderson's. Our future is not pre-determined or pre-ordained. The opportunities are still ahead and we'll face many trials and tribulations.
Ben Franklin's quote, "A republic, if you can keep it.", reminds us that we must constantly work to keep the United States of America strong.
If we're already mired in defeatism, how do we expect to ever obtain victory?
Politics is a war of attrition. Don't give up. Get engaged at the local level. Ask questions. Make public records requests. Hold government accountability.
And exercise all of your freedoms, especially those found in the 1st Amendment.
Nick Anderson, today you are the last I saw, yet not the least. You are first place, and all the others, a well deserved second place. No matter how bleak the present, there still is hope. November elections?
